Peru – Apavam

The APAVAM cooperative originated in 1996 as a USAID project, and was turned over to the farmer members 4 years later. The goal of the coop was to create a better coffee and encourage the farmers to sell at a higher price. The coop numbers over 500 families and provides members with technical assistance, meetings and workshops, healthcare, business planning and credit. The farms are located on the eastern slopes of the Andes Mountains in northern Peru.
