Leaf rust had all but destroyed coffee production in Timor until a new coffee varietal, Hibrido de Timor was introduced in the 1900s. Cooperativa Café Timor has more than 20, 000 members who live in East Timor and through a free healthcare initiative are able to operate seven rural clinics, three mobile clinic teams, and eleven community healthcare teams.
